College

Right now I’m about to finish my sixth semester of electronic engineering and I feel kind of frustrated, this is why, I’ve spent the last 3 years of my life studying like crazy, reading several (big) books and understanding formulas and laws and just to find out that all that knowledge has no use. All of the things you learned can be done by a calculator or a computer nowadays, I mean I’m not mad because I learned all of the stuff I’ve learned, what I’m mad about is the emphasis that the university and national and international treaties and conventions put on the basic or fundamental knowledge, and the little emphasis that they put to the actual and real applications knowledge. Dress for success

When it comes to the outfit I consider myself to be an expert (arrogant!) and I’ll tell you this, it is a big deal.

Well at least if you don’t learn to choose your clothing it won’t hurt you that bad, it may damage your reputation a bit but it won’t define your life, at the most it’ll became a load on your life which won’t allow you to exploit your full potential and maybe you won’t do as well as you were supposed to. New project

Right now I’m working on a new website, it’s already pretty late by I had this idea earlier and I started developing it until now. The website will be kind of a social network but with the difference that you won’t be writing things for others but for yourself. It is actually more like a logbook, you’ll be able to write personal notes, post your future projects and the steps you are taking to achieve them, also everybody will be able to see your profile and you’ll be able to speak to others and see their profiles as well. There are going to be 9 blocks on the main screen which is basically everything you need, so you won’t actually ever have to leave the page, and I’ll try to make load on the go, and while there is no activity. I haven’t though about what I’m going to do with the rest of the blocks, I’ve covered around 5 with what I just mentioned and some other things. Continue reading

Video-games

Since I was a kid I’ve been a video-games fan, lately I haven’t had much time to play my with my 360 but just wait until summer time, you can bet I’ll make up for the time I didn’t play. Continue reading

You make the best friends when you have something in common

My parents forced me to join this church group I’ve been for the past years. And refused to go and always make an scandal about it, but I had no choice but going.

At that group I met a guy who I though was a looser and started to hang out with him, because I knew nobody else, and he very kindly introduced me with the others and he put up with my bad mood, he knew I was only his friend because my parents forced me and still he didn’t mind. I really don’t know how he could stand that, in his position I would’ve told me to screw up. Continue reading

For teachers and professors

Before I start whining about the teachers I’d like to give a special recognition to the personal involved in education of the US. As I said before I live in a relatively poor country, but I have spent some years of my life in the US including my last year of high school and among the 6 professors I had in that year, 5 were exceptionally good, they really helped me understand in more than one way, I learned from those 5 not only the subject that they were to teach me, but also that even when others do a regular work, you don’t have to be the same and go ahead do an extraordinary job, I learned that people matters, and that the best way of helping the community is by performing great from your own job. Living longer

This morning I was hearing on a radio show and it said that the actual life expectancy is around the 78′s or the 80′s because that is the age that actually old people are expect to live, but our real life expectancy is far more. Continue reading

I refuse to work for anyone

From the time I was 13 I started working on the summers at my dad’s shop, ever since then I’ve worked all the vacations periods at various places and one thing that always upset me was that at every place I worked I wanted to do something big, I wanted to make changes and improve things, but nobody seemed to take me seriously and I always ended up doing labor work, using my muscles and not my brain. Military service should be obligatory

I think military service should be obligatory for everybody at the age of 18, I personally have lived a experience close to the military life and I reckon it really made me grow personally and emotionally, the discipline and the physical suffering that they make you go through makes you see things different, you learn to be grateful for every glass of water and every chunk of a meal, you learn to respect your superiors, and to demand respect from others, you learn to obey, and discern. Always follow a long story

It is a personal recommendation to always be into or following a long story, whether it is a book, a TV series (one with a story line, not just casual comedy), an anime, a saga…

Why do I recommend this? Well I’ve found out that when I’m thrilled with a story I’m usually more active and in a good mood and I just wanna run and continue watching, or reading where I stopped the day before, short stories like movies also make you feel excited, but it’s just a momentary feeling which then goes away. Hannibal Barca

Around 4 months ago, I saw a documentary about Hannibal Barca which impressed me, I can’t remember exactly what it said but this is what I learn from it:

Hannibal was a Carthaginian military who fought against the Roman Empire. He, and his troops set on the mission of defeating the Romans at the moment they at their peak, and won some major battles against larger armies and more equipped than his, like the battle of Cannae, thus he’s credited as the one of the most successful strategists of all time. This battles were named the Punic Wars. Continue reading

Chess

One of my personal passions would have to be chess, I got a glass chess when I was a kid as a Christmas gift, even though I didn’t know how to play, so I set it on my room table and I used to watch it and imagine a lot of things and stories about ancient kingdoms and strategies, it is a beautifully carved chess, I know it’s not unique and it wasn’t hand carved, but like to think it is and I can’t help but stare at it sometimes.

I didn’t have any relative who knew how to play, so I just kept the chess clean but never actually played with it.

Be the protagonits of your own life

A saw a movie once where I heard a really good advice, there was a teenager crying because of something she didn’t like about herself and someone approached and told her: The problem with you is that you are like in a movie which is about you, but you insist to make the roll of the best friend, turning your best friend into the protagonist instead of you.

Lots of people go through life being just the best friend, and doing nothing for themselves afraid that they are not good enough, specially when they are following a exceptional person. Stealing other’s styles and personalities to be cool. Continue reading

Inheritance (Possible consequences)

After the few suggestions I’ve provided, this post explains the whole point of this series of articles about inheritance.

Possible consequences after the removal of inheritance:

Parents will be concern about giving their children a good education, and formation and will teach them to work and fight for their own things, because it is the best thing they’ll be able to leave them. They won’t be able to leave them any money, or properties, only a good education and good will and nothing more. Continue reading

Inheritance (Suggestions)

Since I’m complaining about inheritance, I think the least I should do would be proposing a solution.

Here’s what I suggest (it hasn’t been polished and I haven’t consider every scenario, but I did spent some time on it):

Remove any type of inheritance of the law. When a person dies, that person goods would go on a public auction, and shouldn’t be sold for less than half it’s real value. This will lower the price of all the inheritable goods (houses, cars , businesses…) and will also avoid opportunists from getting a deal from a secret auction. And the money raised from the auction will go to public programs (education, health-care, small companies incentives, nursing homes, orphanages). Continue reading

People are nothing until they prove otherwise

I think I have matured a lot in the past two years, and one thing I have learned is that people may give an impression, but usually they are totally different, and also in most cases they turn out to be are worse than better, with respect to the impression I had on them. What I want to say isĀ  that most people disappoint me when I get to met them.

I’ve got the opportunity to met some very important characters along my life, some of them it’s been a honor, but actually most have turn out to be in their positions due to their contacts, lies, political power, relatives, luck and the most common, they applied for the position and nobody else did, or what is kind of the same, they wanted to have something or be somewhere and went ahead and asked for it, and somebody said: “Oh mmm, ok you can have it, nobody else has ever asked for it”. Anime series

There is a Japanese form of art and entertainment called manga, which is basically graphic-story, drawn with the it’s own unique style, like the marvel comics, but Japanese, which has became a hit in the last decade, so bad that some of them have been transmitted in cartoon channel and other American channels, and that most of us have seen, such is the case of Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac), Dragon Ball, Samurais X and lots more.

The manga is a series of images, with parliaments and comments, drawn by the artist, and publish as a storiette. The anime, is a manga brought to the screen, when a manga becomes very popular, it is purchase by an animation company, which then takes it and animates it just like we see it on TV. There are tons of mangas published in Japan but only a few make it to a anime, some mangas haven’t even been finished by the author when they are published as an anime, and you can read the manga on internet as far as the last chapter and the anime series will go way behind it. Don’t buy cheap

Sometime I can’t understand the people reasoning. I get that some may think that technology is too advanced and that there is no reason in purchasing luxurious stuff or with tons of apps and accessories and chrome ends… , and I also get that there are some things that you’re not going to use that much, and in both cases I think is ok to buy the cheapest. But what has always bugged me, is when people buy things that they are actually going to use in their daily lives or that is important that they don’t fail, and go to the store and buy the cheapest. About Facebook, social networks and communication technologies

I barely use any kind of communication tool that has been released in the last years. I don’t have a facebook account, or twitter, I seldom text on my cellphone, I do have a couple of e-mail accounts, but rarely use messenger.

Why? Because I hate people that spend their lives in front of a device and that give more importance to the electronic conversation than to the real conversation. I hate when people are always sitting in front of their laptops or with their phones on their hands, and when you approach and try to talk to them, they don’t pay their full attention to you, and they don’t even stop writing to take a look at you, it’s pretty ironic you know, that people use those new tools to socialize, but when you actually try to socialize with them, they’re too busy socializing with others. Why Japan?!!

I love pretty much everything done by the Japanese, from the video games to the animated series, the electronics, cars, the ninjas and samurais, their culture, and the landscapes, their values and ethics and their honor.

I consider them to very the best nation in the world, they are the second economy and with only a small population (compared to other countries), and in the natural resources field they are not very gifted either, their terrain is also not good (pretty much mountains and hundreds of small islands), and yet they have manage to become a super-power. And all of this without losing their traditions.

I even met two Japanese guys once and they turn out to be pretty cool. Continue reading

About going to Heaven

I consider myself to be a pretty nice person, I like people and I always have good wills, it’s just natural in me, I was raised that way, I even think I’m a kind of philanthropist, I put the majority’s interests above mine and it makes me feel good.

I may even dare to say, I’ve earned to go to heaven because of my actions, but there’s one big issue about me that conflicts with religion, I am pretty skeptical (I doubt about everything), and I can’t stop but thinking that we are just the product of a mixture of elements in a huge universe, which is very likely, some other times, I think that maybe we are the creation of God, but a God that doesn’t worry about us, he just created us and let us be. I though about a lot of theories of why we are here, but that’s not the point. Continue reading

I wish the day lasts longer

Sometimes I let my imagination wonder around, and today I happened to be thinking about how I wished the days last longer, not only the daylight but also the night. I’m a night person, from the moment I wake up I go through the day feeling tired and I’m all quite and it’s by 5:00 pm when I finally start to feel like I’m getting more energy. And when I finally feel like I’m at my best everybody is going to sleep, I think this is around 11:00 pm, when I feel tired again and I want to go to sleep, is about 1:00 am and and only a few hours later is all sunny again, and the noise of the city comes with it. Inheritance shouldn’t exist

I am a political and social idealist who would love to see a better world, and sometimes I run into a concept which just don’t seem to lead this way, and I can understand why they are active (because of the benefit of the powerful minority), what I can’t understand is why do we allow them to remain.

This is the case of inheritance. Continue reading

Divine Justice, what the world needs

The value that I consider the world needs the most, it’s the least practiced and the least known and my favorite is the same, and I know it as Divine Justice, some kind of spiritual guide of mine once explained it to me and that’s how he called it, so I don’t know the correct term for it. It works like this anyway:

Temporal (or worldly) justice. It is justice as we all know it: You should get what you deserve.

Divine Justice. Justice as religion knows it: You should get what you need. Continue reading

Pay attention to the critics, only because you’re like that doesn’t make it any less annoying

Since I can remember I’ve always heard people say things like, I’m like this whether you like it or not, get use to it!, or when somebody gets married they’ll say: you’ll have to learn to love him/her with his/her defects. People has always asked to understand other people, and some even will say, sorry, the rest of us weren’t made perfect like you sir.

And I’ve always had an issue with all this condescending trend. I’ve tried to comprehend people, but I’ve barely seen them trying to change their conducts, which seems pretty unfair to me. Continue reading
